PROGRAMS

Welcome to the core of San Diego Institute of Technology — where education is not locked behind gates, tuition walls, or bureaucratic barriers. At SDIT, we believe knowledge should be accessible, interdisciplinary, and applied.

Open Source Degree Program

A modern liberal and technical education, designed for the age of AI.

Hosted on GitHub. Built in the open. Accessible to anyone.

Overview

The Open Source Degree Program is our foundational learning pathway — an interdisciplinary curriculum that combines:

  • Classical liberal education (philosophy, literature, economics, systems thinking)

  • Modern engineering & design (AI, drones, software, prototyping)

  • Creative and applied practice (projects, films, music, writing, labs)

This is more than a degree — it’s a Mental Gym for the mind and a training ground for the builders of tomorrow.

How it works

  • Free and open: All materials are published on GitHub. Anyone can start today.

  • Structured journey: 4-year curriculum with day-by-day and course-by-course guidance.

  • Self-paced, rigorous: Designed for independent thinkers who want a serious, flexible alternative to traditional college.

  • Project-based: Emphasizes real-world output over exams. Students build things that matter.

  • Globally accessible: Anyone in the world can follow along, contribute, or remix the curriculum.

Why we built this

Universities have drifted. Costs have skyrocketed. Core knowledge is buried behind paywalls.

SDIT was created as an answer — a platform for sovereign learners to gain a real education, build real skills, and contribute meaningfully to the world.
